adahnert, your comment made my day. Thanks a lot!

Unlike other times in my life, when the fuel I was running on was sheer enthusiasm, which you run out of sooner or later, now I'm running on determination. Therefore, I hope it will work well in some way no matter what happens. It may take one product, or two, or seven, until I get it right, and I prefer earlier rather than later, but I feel I'll go on no matter what.

I just want to add to the previous comment. I enjoy reading your experiences regarding the ISV and less about the editor. While I enjoy the technical aspects of what you are doing I doubt that I will be a customer, however your recount of experiences along the way have made more interested than ever. I like the logical paths you take to get to a decision point, It is an extremely insightful and entertaining read. I hope that you keep up the good work even when confronted with the drudgery of the mundane.

You inspire more than you know.

Sascha, thanks for the comment. I was going to include, with the last post, my estimate that it will take 3-6 months to get NGEDIT 1.0 out of the door. I plan to announce what the new stuff is about a bit before than that, but I don't want to do it just yet - I don't think it will do any good.

Meanwhile, I think the blog is interesting for technically inclined readers, and those that want to follow step by step the creation of an ISV.

You are dead right, and that is what the post was about, that 1.0 need not have each and every text editor feature known to man.

And you are also dead right that users' feedback will be the route from good software into great software. I only want to actually have a version worthy of respect before launching it.

If you actually get bored by the blog, writing an empty e-mail to notif10@ngedit.com will get you a notification once 1.0 is released. And if you want me to notify you when I announce the new features, or when I start with the first beta cycle, I'll be more than glad to do so.

Best!

Please, release early, release often. The feedback you will get will help you make better decisions. With all this talk about the editor I am really at the point of unsubscribing to your feed if there is not something to be seen soon. If you want to make my life easier you will release a new version every week (at least) and let me and others be able to help you decide what is good and what not.

I don't care if NGEDIT 1.0 has a RegExp engine or not, at least not from the beginning. I want to see what your innovative features are (the reason I subscribed) and see if it is something I will want to use in the future.

This will also bring you much more publicity.
